What is Dole Whip

Dole Whip is one of our refreshing “Summer Menu” items you can find in our Shortcake window. I’m writing about it today because we often get a lot of questions from people who’ve never tried it. If you have food allergies or have made a decision to forgo animal products, Dole Whip might be a great choice for you. In this post I’ll explain the history of Dole Whip as well as its why it is a better-for-you treat.

Dole Whip was introduced in the mid-80’s at Disney. The better-for-you treat has developed quite the “cult-like” following over the years. It used to be you could only find Dole Whip at Disney parks.

What makes Dole Whip great is what it doesn’t have. Read that again: what makes Dole Whip great is what it doesn’t have.

What is Dole Whip?

Dole Whip is a soft serve made without dairy or lactose. Yep, it has the same consistency as soft serve ice cream but it does not have any dairy products or lactose.

Because Dole Whip is made without any animal products, it is a perfect dessert for a vegan diet. Additionally, Dole Whip is gluten-free, virtually fat-free and cholesterol free too!

Some people suffer allergies from artificial colors or products made with egg. Again, Dole Whip does not have artificial colors or eggs.

If you have food allergies, most likely your dessert choices can often be limited to coconut or soy based which for some people can be just as problematic. Dole Whip is a great better-for-you dessert option for people with allergens or special diets.

We currently serve pineapple or strawberry Dole Whip. You can enjoy either individually or mixed in a cup, cone or a float with Dole pineapple juice.
